MY SUGERY IS OCTOBER 12TH

I've had so many dear, sweet souls contact me over the last few days that I am humbled by your kindnesses toward me. One of the benefits of the Internet is the virtual friends one makes. I've been blessed. Truly.

My surgery is scheduled for October 12th. I'm in a better frame of mind about it now, thanks to all of your kind words and promises of prayers. I'm a big believer in the power of prayer. As Ghandi once said, "Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action."

Kelly and Calvin last summer.
Four days after my surgery, my Calvin will turn eighty--that's with a small "e" because he doesn't want a fuss made over this achievement. His son, though, has different ideas.

Kelly, who was born close to Calvin's fortieth birthday, lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He has a PhD. in High Energy Theoretical Partical Physics--and I have no clue what that is. He is flying to the States the day after my surgery and staying for his dad's big day.

Kelly says he wants to help get me back on my feet as well as be here for his dad's birthday. How eager I am for his company. For those of you who know my Calvin, you know him to be intelligent, witty, gentle, caring and very sweet. Kelly has inherited all those admirable qualities. He is a joy to be around. So, see, every dark cloud has a silver lining.

You're a very blessed woman, my friend! I know your surgery is going to go well especially since you've got a great visit with Kelly to look forward to and helping Calvin celebrate his birthday. You're in my thoughts! :-)

Vonnie, wow, Calvin is turning eighty. He doesn't look it, and what a handsome son he has. I'm sorry you have to undergo surgery. I must have been out of the loop on this because I didn't realize. Just take it really easy afterwards for as long as you need to. Let us know how it all goes. Prayer is indeed vital and powerful.
God bless you my friend.

Vonnie you are so blessed. It is so nice to hear how close you guys are. That's a blessing all in itself.

Tell Calvin Happy birthday and that he does not look to be eighty.

Now for you my sweetie, here is a prayer that will stay with you during and after your surgery

"Creator, watch over my dear friend. She is one amazing woman. Keep her safe and brush your hand over the doctors and take care of her."

Love you bunches

Melinda

You will be much healthier after the surgery, Vonnie. You'll feel better, less worry, pain. I will be praying for your smooth surgery and a speedy recovery.

Happy birthday to Calvin! Eighty is nothing to sneeze at. I admire the fact that at near that age he pursued and caught up to his dream to be published! Major congrats again for that.

Happy Birthday, Calvin! Good luck with your surgery. I'm sending prayers your way. And enjoy Kelly's visit. My daughter and SIL live in Eschenbach, Germany so I know how much you and Calvin look forward to seeing him. Rest well and don't stress.

Vonnie, I am sure going to pray for your surgery to be perfect. A good husband is the most precious gift on earth. Enjoy your gift, Vonnie. You two make such a great couple. I was talking about you to my Pilates instructor and telling her not to be afraid of second time around. I gave her your example. Happy B'day to Calvin. Of course it's a day to celebrate. BTW Kelly is a good-looking one and a smart one. Is he available? Can we start matchmaking?LOL!

Thanks for all your kind comments. Kelly is a dearheart and yes, Mona, he is married to a native Berliner, as she calls herself. He and Katrin are a lovely couple.
