Today I'm sharing a snippet from book two of my romantic suspense series: Rain is a Love Song. Please note this title will be a FREE download on Amazon this week, starting on Tuesday. I hope you'll snag your free copy.
The following scene takes place in Paris. French counterterrorism agent, Jean-Luc has just been called to a murder scene. He has Gwen, a crime scene reporter from Asheville, NC, in the car with him. She wants to photograph the scene. He tells her she's not permitted. They've been arguing about this and a few other things, so both the heroine and hero's nerves are frayed...
Gwen hiked her chin in that pugnacious
way she had. “I thought you were smart enough to see a fresh set of eyes might
help. Maybe if I were a man…”
His hand fisted in her hair, and he
dragged her to him, their faces a mere inch apart. “I wish to hell you were a
man. I’d slug you.”
She rolled her eyes and started muttering under her breath again. Something about how she wished he’d try and how great he’d look with his foot broken off and shoved up his ass.
FREE from Tuesday to Saturday, April 16-20th.

Whoa! Just a little tension there. Great job! Love the last part about "how great he'd look with his foot broken off and shoved up his ass." Hilarious!
That was a surprise. Wasn't expecting that end for your 8 lines. lol Memorable that's for sure. I'll be thinking of it all night. Why such thoughts, I'll have to read further. Great post.
A feisty couple. I bet the fireworks fly between these two all through the book. Great snippet!
Can you say HEATED TENSION! lol- Great snippet.
Clearly these two are meant for each other LOL. Excellent excerpt!
Thanks, J. Rose, these two were so much fun to write. I merely took dictation as they sparred.
hahaha. You have the most wonderful feisty heroines, Vonnie. Love it!
Michael, thanks for popping in. When two people are both control freaks, neither wants to give an inch, but watching them come to grips with their feelings can be such fun.
Linda, RAIN IS A LOVE SONG is full of fireworks and sizzle and fear of a terrorist group bent on destroying lives.
Thanks, Karen. I love creating tension between two people coming to care for each other.
Veronica, you are soooo right. Of course it takes them many rounds of verbal sparring to reach that conclusion.
No whimpy heroines for me, Joanne. I was once whimpy myself and learned to grow a backbone as a matter of survival.
The last line! lololol
Vonnie!!
Love this interaction! Especially the part about him wishing to slug her if she was a man. It made me giggle!
Ha! Loved this exchange! I'll be sure to grab my free copy! Thanks, Vonnie! :)
Hahaha, I love it. Really great dialogue!
Eleri, so glad you enjoyed it.
Lauren, I'm glad I made you giggle.
Yes, please grab your free copy, Evelyn. Free is always great for our budgets.
Thanks, Ella. I love writing dialogue.
Cool. I loved it.
Thanks so much, Elaine.
Vonnie, your characters always have a lot of spunk!
I love the sass and attitude that often masks a world of hurts, don't you, Angela? Thanks for commenting.
Terrific, Vonnie. Funny tough and sure to end in romance.
Thanks, Charmaine. This is a steamy romance with lots of humor as well as sizzle.
