In the
summer of 2010, I went a little crazy and wrote three books for a brand new
series from The Wild Rose Press called the Class of '85. Why, you might ask?
Because the series title hooked me. Having graduated from college in 1984, I
have some wonderful memories from the early 80’s. Great times spent with good friends.
June 18th through the 22nd, five books from this terrific,
multi-author series are free, including the first one I wrote, Lonely Road To You. To
celebrate, I'm taking a trip back to the past and reliving those years. Today,
let's talk TV!
I’ll admit, I didn’t watch a lot of TV back then. But there were
times when we ditched studying for some mindless relaxation. And I do mean
mindless. This was the era of the nighttime soaps. Dallas and Dynasty topped
the ratings charts. I wasn’t a fan, but there were some entertaining and
innovative sitcoms I enjoyed. The Cosby
Show was a hit. And what about a show that took place in a bar? Cheers took the sitcom away from family
values and gave us something completely different. Then there was Magnum PI—Tom Selleck in a Ferrari—what
more is there to say. LOL
My
heroine in Lonely Road To You is a children’s book author and illustrator.
She heads off on a cross-country road trip to her 25 year high school reunion.
Instead, she finds adventure—and love—with an old classmate along the way.

I was completely and totally hooked on 'Dallas' in the '80's! I've watched the new 'Dallas', but it doesn't compare with my complete obsession with the classic 'Dallas'. LOL Sometimes, I wonder if 'Dallas' helped in breaking up my marriage. My ex wasn't as interesting.

That's funny, L.M. I didn't watch the nighttime soaps but I was an All My Children fan for years. You're right. The characters were way more interesting than "normal" people.
Your post really made me think. I didn't watch a lot of TV in the
80s. I was in grad school, then starting a new job. Matlock--I think it was during then. And Murder She Wrote. Did watch those :) Didn't watch Dallas or the spin offs.

I got married in 1981 and was a regular Dallas watcher, but never got into Dynasty. And I really can't remember what other shows were on back then.
I'm sure I never missed an episode of Magnum PI. I think Tom Selleck only got better with age. He was so hot during his appearances on Friends as well.
OMG! All I did was read the title of this post, Jannine,and said, "Magnum P.I." Another show I watched faithfully was "Jake and the Fatman." Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane.
Finally home! I think Murder She Wrote was from that time period. Tom Selleck certainly has aged well. It is fun seeing how TV trends have changed--and stayed the same. I don't think action shows will ever go out of style.
