Release Day Party for "A Song for Sophie" by Mackenzie Crowne

Did you come to party? If so, you're at the right place. Because today is the release of Mac's book and it's a cause for a Vintage Vonnie celebration. I've got my copy of A Song for Sophie already and started reading it last night. All I can say is SWOON!!!

Sorry, where are my manners. I've not made you feel welcome yet, have I? Settle in, my darlings. I've made the place as festive as I could and have been mixing Mac's favorite drink--martinis--in various flavors. She's more traditional while I like a pomegranate martini. I've got chocolates galore, too. So grab a glass and a little ol' saucer to fill with some delights.

For those of you who think it's too early to indulge, I've got non-alcoholic martinis, too.

V, you’re an angel, a queen, a goddess! Hell, you rock! I can’t thank you enough for swinging open the door on your beautiful blog to help me celebrate the release of my Honky Tonk Hearts romance, A Song for Sophie.

It seems I’ve been waiting forever to let Beau and Sophie loose on the world of romance. I’m stoked their story is finally here and available. I’ve been so looking forward to introducing them to old friends and new. I should be happy dancing, right? I should be walking on the clouds, don’t you think? I should be toasting my characters with a crisply chilled martini… and I would be, if the fates didn’t decide that on the day I celebrate the long awaited release of Sophie and Beau’s story, I should also experience a long evaded procedure even hypochondriacs avoid.

Can you say colonoscopy?

Yep, that’s right. As you all party hardy with the fabulous V, toasting laid off, neurotic history teacher, Sophie and her plan to snag herself a man from among country music’s bad boy’s, all male crew, I’m out cold with my naked butt in the air. At this very moment, a manic photographer with MD after his name is snapping pics of my colon. Ewww! His mother must be so proud.

Seriously, I’d love to be toasting right along with you, I love Sophie, and Beau… oh, don’t get me started on how I feel about that gorgeous hunk of man, but after choking down a gallon of laxative disguised as Gatorade, I couldn’t possibly swallow another thing. So, I’ll let Sophie and Beau do their own talking, and of course, I have complete faith V will pick up any slack, and I’ll join you all as soon as the anesthesia wears off. In the meantime, enjoy, and thanks for stopping by.

Oh, dear, you're the second guest for one of my release day parties who had to go for a colonoscopy on the same day as my party. I...ah...I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a butt-jinx. Meanwhile, I'm sending Calvin out on an ice cream run. You might not feel up to consuming anything heavy, but a few bites of ice cream surely wouldn't hurt.

Ladies, even though Mac won't be here for a while, we'll toast her with a martini or three, and being the friends that we are, we'll have a nibble of chocolate in her honor.

Blurb:

Jobless, practically homeless, and tired of being manless, Sophie Taylor jumps at the chance to be Beaumont Walker’s personal assistant. Six weeks on the road with country music’s bad boy—and, more importantly, his all-male crew—is the perfect opportunity to change her life.

Beau Walker doesn’t need any more distractions. Sophie, with her butt-ugly suits and balls-to-the-wall attitude, shouldn’t be one, but she proves to be distracting and more—even, surprisingly, a friend. So when he discovers her plan to snag a man from his worldly wise crew, he’s determined to protect her from herself.

When Sophie realizes Beau is behind her failure to attract even one member of his crew, the last place she expects to find herself is in his bed. But will one night of passion convince her she's woman enough for him? Or will it destroy their friendship and his budding belief in true love?

Ohhhh, I love the blurb, don't you? It's very intriguing. Calvin's back from his ice cream run. He says he's got plenty of frozen chocolate for Mac when she's able to check in. Bless his heart, he got her some flowers, too.

Anyone care for another martini before we take a look at her excerpt? Oh, and if you care for ice cream yourself, Cal brought home plenty. He says the fruit makes it a healthy treat. Don't you love a man who knows how to justify?

Excerpt:

His lunch date? Is he insane? His definition of a personal assistant was obviously different than hers. “Now, just a minute.”

Beau ignored her, pulling her toward the wood paneled building. She blinked up at the neon star mounted above the door. A flashing steer rode above the sign announcing the Lonesome Steer Honky Tonk. A few miles outside of Amarillo, she’d driven by the popular bar occasionally, but had never been inside.

“A honky tonk? Really? This isn’t the kind of place I’d expect to find your mother.”

He kept a tight hold on her wrist when she tried to jerk free. “Savanna started her career on the Lonesome Steer’s tiny stage. She makes a point to stop in to see the owner whenever she’s in town.”

Yanking open the door, he pulled her in behind him. Her eyes were slow to adjust to the dim light after the bright sunshine outside. She blinked, glancing around as the door thumped shut behind them. Surprisingly busy for a weekday afternoon, most of the round wooden tables were occupied beyond the large, empty dance floor.

Heads turned at their arrival. Several of the diners called out greetings while others jabbed elbows at their companions and nodded in Beau’s direction.

“Unless you want me to cause a scene in front of your adoring fans, I suggest you let go of my wrist.”

Well now, I'd say Beau's got his hands full with Sophie. Whoot! I do love sexual fireworks, don't you? Mac's book is part of the popular Honky Tonk Hearts series.

Mac's Bio:

I’m a wife, mother and really young grandmother. Together with my high school sweet heart husband, a neurotic Pomeranian and a blind cat, I call Arizona home because the southwest feeds my soul. My love of books, specifically the romance genre, has been a lifelong affair, both as a reader and a writer. A bout with breast cancer sharpened my resolve to see my stories shared with others. Today, I’m a five-year survivor, living the dream. Raised on the concept that a stranger is just one conversation away from being a friend, I love meeting new people.

My friends call me Mac. I hope you will too.

Joanne, when it comes to colonoscopies, the prep is worse than the procedure. I hate drinking that horrid stuff. Thank goodness I'm good for another five years. Poor Mac...

Vonnie and Mac...I am the poster child for colonoscopies! Boy, that sounded wrong...but having survived colon cancer, I've had more than my share of that delightful procedure! I used to plan and write something clever on my backside before my appointment. I mean, the doctor has to look at butts all day. I wanted to stand out, be special! You know, something clever like 'slot B' 'Smile you're on candid camera.'or 'exit only'... However, about an hour into the prep, I lose my cherub-like demeanor and any sense of humor I possess! Fortunately, the prep is the hard part. As for the procedure, it's cake...well, not cake exactly, but you get my drift. Speaking of cake, soon you'll be in full celebration mode. I'm so excited for you, Mac. Still hoping we can get together when you back east next month. Someday you'll have to fill Vonnie in on our combined past!! (How's that for a hook!) Can't wait to get through my edits and start reading. The book sounds great!

I got lucky with mine, I got to take take pills and just drink a few glasses of water. I couldn't keep the liquid down. Kind of made it easier.
Mac your book is on my list! It sounds terrific and the excerpt says it all!

Mary, lucky you! Well, guess you weren't so lucky when the liquid stuff made you sick, huh? Thanks for stopping by.

Quick! Someone hand me a cosmo while I shove that incredible chocolate cake down my throat. Oh, and ice cream, too. Calvin, you're a prince! I'm starved!

Phew, glad to have that 'behind' me. But damn, I wish I had thought to write something clever on me arse. :-)
