Welcome to the Cowboy and Lawmen Blog Hop!
My initial hero crush was the Lone Ranger. I first heard "Hi-Ho, Silver! Away!" over the radio in the mid-fifties. The actor's deep voice resonating across the air waves, amid the crackling of static. Each episode was introduced in the same way..."In the early days of the western United States, a masked man and an Indian rode the plains, searching for truth and justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when from out of the past come the thundering hoofbeats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again!"
I was nine when we got our first television set. It didn't take long for both my parents and me to become captivated by Clayton Moore's role as the Lone Ranger. And of course, we loved his trusty side-kick, Tonto.
On the television show, the Lone Ranger:
- Never killed anyone.
- Never kissed the girl.
- Never shot to kill, only to disarm.
- Never drank, cussed or smoked.
- Never accepted reward money.
- Never showed his face to anyone but Tonto.
- Always upheld a moral code.
- Always respected the rights and beliefs of others.
I believe...
- that to have a friend, a man must be one.
- that all men are created equal and that everyone has within himself the power to make this a better world.
- that God put the firewood there, but that every man must gather and light it himself.
- in being prepared physically, mentally, and morally to fight when necessary for that which is right.
- that a man should make the most of what equipment he has.
- that 'this government of the people, by the people, and for the people' shall live always.
- that men should live by the rule of what is best for the greatest number.
- that sooner or later...somewhere...somehow...we must settle with the world and make payment for what we have taken.
- that all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.
- in my Creator, my country, my fellow man.

I think my first cowboy crush was James West... though technically not a 'cowboy' he rode a horse and stood for justice. My Barbie never went out with Ken... James was her man! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on The Lone Ranger. Country Blessings! Angela

I was never into westerns. But, there's a cable station that shows them all day on Saturday -- so, I always know where to find my sister on Saturday afternoons. She's in front of her TV.

Hello Vonnie! So glad to have "met" you on this blog tour. This is the best blog I've ever participated in...in my fave genre for stories, movies and TV shows. I feel like I've hit pay dirt on this blog! :-) I, too, listened to the Lone Ranger on the radio and I think I had a crush on every TV western hero I ever saw. But I guess if I had to pick an early favorite it would be Clint Eastwood in TV's Rawhide or Randolph Scott in his movies (that's what we used to watch at the local theater with my Dad when we were growing up). And, like you, I'm looking forward to seeing the new Lone Ranger movie coming out this year! jdh2690@gmail.com

I loved the Lone Ranger, but my first crush was probably Clint Eastwood. Thanks for the hop.
I'm anxious to see the new Lone Ranger movie, too, although for me, it'll be pretty hard to displace Clayton Moore as the Masked Man.
My first crush was Clint Walker, and I even got to shake his hand when I was six.
My first crush was Little Joe from Bonanza. I always love shows like The Lone Ranger, Rifleman, Roy Rodgers, anything with John Wayne. Thank you for being part of the hop.

Hi Vonnie. I am excited to watch the new Lone Ranger movie too! I might even get my husband to come along. Happy Hopping!
My first crush was Little Joe from Bonanza, I would watch it all of the time just to see him. Michael Landon had the cutest smile.

I didn't know they were remaking the movie. Not sure I will see it. I struggle with remakes. Although I do enjoy Johnny Depp For him, I may make an exception.

I had quite a list to sort through but the first "fall over in a faint crush" was Lee Major's character Heath in Big Valley. That show was just chocked full of hunky cowboys.

I can still remember watching Wild, Wild West (the original) with my mom when I was young. Absolutely loved that show with its quirky humor and the cool gadgets and things. I also loved The Big Valley. Barbara Stanwyck was awesome as the patriarch of the family.

I loved going to the movies to see the Lone Ranger when I was a kid. I think I liked him because he always got the bad guys and he rode a white horse.

The Lone Ranger was a favorite of mine. Looking forward to seeing the new movie about him. Wouldn't it be wonderful if more people lived by his moral code?
